Meeting My Goals- Motivation Monday
I ATTRACT PEOPLE WHO HELP ME MEET MY GOALS
We are almost a month into 2025. How are you doing on your goals so far? It's sometimes hard to keep the motivation going after a few weeks. Instead of letting the motivation die off, make intentional choices that help you reach those goals. They won't just fall into your lap - you have to work for them!
This year, I have gotten a Catholic business owners meeting up and running, to help connect local to me business owners in the parishes around me, so we can all help each other grow and thrive. We are there to support one another, to help each other reach our goals. This month's meeting I witnessed praying for a business that is looking a new location that would be a blessing in so many ways. Let God's will be done!
As you contemplate this affirmation all week, here are seven quotes for you to think about. How do these speak to you? How do these quotes apply to your life and how can you grow from them?
MONDAY
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
It's okay to feel discouraged, isolated and alone, but don't let that consume you. If you see someone going down this road, help them. Don't let them retreat into isolation, lift them up and show them the love of Christ. We are called to "bear each other's burdens" - when they struggle, struggle with them. Don't let them walk alone. We are made to be in community with one another - we must help each other grow, thrive, and get to heaven. We must help each other and be a source of encouragement.
TUESDAY
“Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.”
We all know time is short - make the most of every moment. While in this verse, it's mainly speaking of non-believers, it can also mean those who are struggling, unsure, or just not as strong. We can, at any moment, be face-to-face with God - let's make sure we are helping each other out as much as possible during our short time on earth. We are all called to spend as much time as possible serving Christ and spreading his message of love - lifting each other up and helping each other out.
WEDNESDAY
“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”
As long as we are alive and have the chance to do good, we must invest our lives using the power of God's spirit in doing what is right. This means intentionally helping others reach their goals, intentionally helping others serve Christ. We all belong to the same family, or household, and we are all siblings. It's our job to serve God by helping others in our household. Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you. It will pay off for both of you, for eternity.
THURSDAY
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
God has a plan for us - we need to make sure we are listening. We can encourage others with this verse - keep going. There is beauty ahead - keep going! Our business may not be thriving yet, but it will, if it's God's will. Our goals must also God's will. Have hope that things will work out the way they are supposed to. With the right people around you, with the right support system, and with God, all things are possible!
FRIDAY
“And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone.”
Helping others can be hard, even burdensome. But it's our job as a child of Christ to trust the Lord in all situations - to use His strength to help us help others. We must minister with love, patience, and understanding. We must assist and restore faith in those who do not have it. We must lift up those weaker than ourselves. We must have patience, love, and understanding.
SATURDAY
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”
This is a good lesson from Paul - that we Christians should treat the needs (and goals) of others as more important than our own. This may be a very difficult concept for some - why should someone else's needs come before mine? While it's important to not neglect your own needs so you can help fill the cups of others, this passage shows how important it is to help our brothers and sisters in Christ. This leads to love and unity of all of humankind. The overall goal for humility is met when we put an emphasis on others, not just on ourselves.
SUNDAY
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
It's our duty as children of Christ to bear each other's burdens (ah, this theme is back...). Our duties are not just to help those who do not believe, but to help lift our Christian brothers and sisters up. We must work together to help achieve goals. Your goals are my goals, I will help you get to where you need to be. We must never tire of helping others - it's what God is calling us to do. The harvest is coming.
So as you proceed through this week...
...trust in God. Find others to surround yourself with who will help lift you up. Find someone else to help motivate and lift up. How can you help them reach their goals? How can you help others?
