I AM A NATURAL LEADER
I am back! After life got a bit crazy this month, I am finally back with new verses, ones I need to hear more than ever.
This week is about being a leader - about how leadership comes with great responsibility.
I pray you all have a wonderful week and that these verses help guide your decisions and boost your productivity.
MONDAY
“With upright heart he shepherded them and guided them with his skillful hand.”
Ideally, a king is a shepherd of his people - his job is to protect them, care for them, tending to their needs, and above all, leading them into a life of faith. David at his best did his work with upright heart and skillful hand, though he had his own moral failures; many kings in his line were much less upright and skillful. The term “shepherd” came to be used of leaders in Israel (priests, nobles, and judges), and the prophet Ezekiel spoke out about the greedy shepherds in his day. He looked forward to the time after the exile when God would raise up “his servant David” (i.e., the Messiah) who would be the “shepherd” of his people. When Jesus called himself the “good shepherd”, he claimed to be the long-awaited heir of David, who would guide his people perfectly. As the leader of our business, we are called to be a king; we are called to guide others with our skillful hand.

TUESDAY
“Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.”
The wise business owner is the person who fairly and faithfully cares for those under his watch - this includes their employees and their customers and clients. Faithful managers (business owners) will be rewarded for their faithfulness. While it is very hard work, in the end, eternal salvation is worth it. People who have been entrusted by God with many abilities and responsibilities will be held to a higher standard on the last day. Don't let God down!
WEDNESDAY
“Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.”
Pay careful attention to yourselves - your spiritual well being as a leader is top priority. You cannot lead your flock to morality and faithfulness if you yourself aren't faithful. As a business owner, you are a spiritual leader of sorts. God's church was created with his own blood, with Jesus' blood, and we are given the task of protecting it. Be the best you can be, so that you can lead others into eternal salvation.
THURSDAY
“In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.”
True leadership requires setting an example. You do this by living out the behavior you wish to see in others. The early Christian leaders showed the way in their faith and conduct. Today’s leaders, whether religious or secular, can only earn credibility when they model hard work, integrity, and values. You won’t get others to do something simply by telling them to do it. You need to demonstrate it. In this way, you’ll be walking the talk instead of just repeating empty phrases.

FRIDAY
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”
As much as you may wish it weren’t so, you don’t have all the answers or the expertise in every area. That’s why the Bible encourages leaders to listen to the counsel of others and, perhaps most importantly, stay open to correction. Those who block out feedback and advice will find that they will inevitably make unwise choices and compromise their mission. However, when a leader embraces humility and teachability, they position their organization—and themselves—for growth.

SATURDAY
“Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.”
Every organization needs a compelling vision to provide direction, inspiration, and purpose. As a leader, you have the responsibility to articulate and cast a vision for the future. Define that vision with a vision statement. Paint a vivid picture of the possibilities that await. Doing so will help you win others, bringing added energy and cohesiveness. Casting your vision in this way shows you can see ahead and communicate it effectively.

SUNDAY
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
A leader has been entrusted with the oversight of people, resources, and a mission. How well you handle it all speaks to your leadership skills. If you don’t take advantage for selfish gain, you show true responsibility. Great leaders take what they have been given and make them better. That’s what being a good steward is all about. The best leaders understand that what they manage is of vital importance, and as you demonstrate your trustworthiness, more people will show faith in you as a leader.

So as you proceed through this week...
...ponder how you as a leader can lead your flock in faithfulness. Not only are you a leader in your business and field, but you are a leader of God's word.
