passion and purpose - Motivation Monday
I AM DRIVEN BY PASSION AND PURPOSE
Happy St. Patrick's Day!!
In honor of this wonderful saint on his feast day, all of the quotes this week are from him.
Let St. Patrick guide you and lead you this week.
MONDAY
“Christ with me,
Christ before me,
Christ behind me,
Christ in me,
Christ beneath me,
Christ above me,
Christ on my right,
Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down,
Christ when I sit down,
Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.”
This is the most well known quote and prayer from St. Patrick, and for good reason. Today, we are reminded that Christ is ALL around us, in us, everywhere. Let that guide you in everything you do. Let that guide your passion and your purpose. You are never alone. He surrounds you at all times, leading you on your way.
TUESDAY
“I arise today, through God's strength to pilot me, God's might to uphold me, God's wisdom to guide me, God's eye to look before me, God's ear to hear me, God's word to speak for me, God's hand to guard me, God's shield to protect me, God's host to save me From snares of devils, From temptation of vices, From everyone...”
This is a prayer known as St. Patrick's Breastplate, demonstrating his dedication to faith and protection. Let this prayer protect you in every way, guiding you so you can pursue your passion and purpose. Satan will attack in the most sneaky of ways - let St. Patrick pray for you and guide you. God will protect.
WEDNESDAY
“In a single day I have said as many as a hundred prayers, and in the night almost as many.”
While your business should be driven by passion and purpose, so should your personal life. While I tend to focus on business goals, your personal goals and personal prayer life directly plays into your success as a business. Pray for protection, every chance you get. When your passion and purpose are God-driven, Satan will attack. He will try to bring you down and you need to be prepared. St. Patrick will pray for you!
THURSDAY
“I came to the people of Ireland to preach the gospel, and to suffer insult from the unbelievers, bearing the reproach of my going abroad and many persecutions even unto bonds, and to give my free birth for the benefit of others.”
This is deep - he did what he knew he had to do, even though he knew it would be very hard, and that he would face resistance and persecution. He suffered through it all in order to do what God was calling him to do. Let St. Patrick be your example, your leader, your mentor. It's okay if it will be hard. It's okay if you will be met with resistance. It's okay if you will be met with persecution and insult, as long as it's what God is calling you to do. Let your passion and purpose guide you through all the hard times you will face.
FRIDAY
“I arise today
Through the strength of heaven:
Light of sun
Brilliance of moon
Splendor of fire
Speed of lightning
Swiftness of wind
Depth of sea
Stability of earth
Firmness of rock.”
I am amazed every year when I look for St. Patrick quotes, the variety in which St. Patrick wrote and spoke. He spoke and wrote such truth, and such beauty. This quote is so poetic! To me, it's one giant motivational poem. To me, it's say YOU CAN - with through the strength of heaven, with the splendor of fire, with the stability of earth - you can. You can do it!
SATURDAY
“If I have any worth, it is to live my life for God so as to teach these peoples; even though some of them still look down on me.”
Purpose - living your life for God. This is purpose to the core - your purpose is to life your life for God. What does that look like? Well, that will be different for each person. God speaks to all of us in different ways, calling on each of our talents and special gifts to get that done. Some may speak out against what you do, some may make fun of you. You may even be subject to bullying, rude comments, or exclusion from a group or groups (unfortunately, I have experienced this firsthand). You must remain steadfast, ready to live your life for God, no matter the cost. You can do it!
SUNDAY
“In the end, I have to honor God because he has taken me from so many dangers and set me down where I never hoped to be.”
This speaks most to me out of all of this week's quotes. His plans are much, much bigger than ours. We could never imagine what He has in store for us. Lean on God, trust Him, and allow Him to lead you to where you need to go. Allow your passion and purpose to be the guide, but listen for God speaking to you, sometimes in the most subtle of ways.
So as you proceed through this week...
...pray for clarity in your passions. Pray for clarity in your purpose in life.
