SCIBSW: 3rd Street Book Exchange
This building has a long history and 3rd Street Books has been there since 1982!
DAY 2!! Up next is 3rd Street Book Exchange in old town Marysville, Washington.
Branding Color Palette
There were 6 colors that I could choose as “main” colors, however, I could not nail down their actual branding colors. I have no idea what their branding is! I noticed a lot of photos of their store itself, even a painting that someone has done of their store. I noticed a BEAUTIFUL artist rendition of their store on their website, but it seems nothing more has been done with that. No official branding logo, no official color palette.
Branding typography
The typography seems a bit more consistent - there is a standard serif font both in their business sign and on their website. As far as I can tell, there are only two fonts they use - their headline font and body font.
Cohesive branding
I would say the branding is as cohesive as it can be, given there seems to be a lack of it. It’s almost as if they got started with branding….and just didn’t do the follow through to actually get there. (It’s hard - I get it!) I would love to see a solid logo, colors, fonts - something definitive and cohesive to really show the world what is 3rd Street Book Exchange. I also noticed something small, but important - their Facebook page URL has “3rd Street Book Exchange” but the title of their page does not. It seems small, but something like this can be a huge deal! I would love to see consistency within the name of the business on all social media platforms and online.
I would love the opportunity to work with 3rd Street Book Exchange on their branding colors, logos, and photos!
Personal Branding
I loved the history of the store! On their website, they list a bit about how the store started and it’s wonderful unique history. I absolutely LOVE that! I did also LOVE that they provide a virtual tour of the store, including a map! I would like to see brighter, more vibrant photos though, so really match the rest of the look of the website. This is what my services are for! I also really enjoyed that they have a full page of links to the other Indie book stores in Snohomish county for the #SCIBSW 2024. What a great way to be consistent in your community branding!
What’s missing? Photos and names of WHO currently runs the store. I was graced with some history about who started 3rd St Books, but there is no information on who the current family members are or what their names are. This is such important information to have on your website and social media platforms so future and current customers feel more connected.
Their social media is spot on though! Woot! It’s fun, it’s vibrant, it’s got content of the employees and owners, photos of frequent customers, as well as fun reading content and photos of their store and inventory.
I would love the opportunity to work with 3rd Street Book Exchange on their personal branding and photos!
Final Thoughts
This store is such a charm! I LOVE it! While the branding and marketing may not be there, it doesn't take away from the small town charm this store has. You can tell the owners and employees put so much work and love into this place. I can just feel the passion ooze into me as I walk the isles. We will definitely be back!
