SCIBSW: Wit's End Books - Marysville
Crystals, and skeletons, and books - oh my!
The Marysville location of Wit’s End was just as full of nooks and crannies and gems as the Stanwood location! I would have to say my favorite feature was the antique cash register from 1912 they have. My kids were able to press some buttons and make it open and it was an absolute highlight of our time there! Day 5 was a success!
Branding Color Palette
The cover photo for the Marysville location is the antique register I mentioned before - which just so happens to be the same color palette as the photo on their website and the duck in a coffee cup image. As I did color matching, I was coming up with the same general colors as the other images - yay! It looks great!
The same 3-4 main colors are present in the branding throughout both the Stanwood and Marysville locations. It’s wonderful! I am still really wanting to know the story behind the duck in the coffee cup. Wit’s End - Marysville, what’s the story?!?
Branding typography
Since the branding isn’t significantly different from the website and Instagram page (there is only one for both stores), there isn’t anything to mention here. The only fonts I see are the serif and sans serif on their website that matches the text on their front door.
Cohesive branding
I was so happy to see their branding on point…once again! The Marysville facebook page has the same duck in a coffee cup as their Stanwood location. Is it stilly that it makes me feel a little giddy to see cohesive branding within a small business? I truly feel like they are both part of the same company, owned by the same family, providing the same types of things to customers, just in two different places. I did notice the shops themselves were a bit different in terms of specific items - but the general feel of the brand is cohesive throughout. I also noticed that the posts on Facebook were generally the same on both location’s pages - I would love to see a little more variety based on the community. The stores sell slightly different things - the feel was a little different in each. While I generally LOVE the idea that both are consistent and cohesive, it would be fun to also have some location specific fun posts - not just events that are location specific.
Personal Branding
Since the only thing different from the Stanwood store is the Facebook page itself, I will repeat what I said about the Stanwood store. I feel like there is a personal element missing - I don’t know the owner, the family who owns it, or anything about them, besides WHAT they offer. The Marysville location of Wit’s End feels very personal - I can tell a lot of people have contributed to make it what it is now. But I know nothing about those people, I know nothing about who works there, who owns it, or anything special really. Just about things they sell. I would love to feel a little more connected on a personal level to these stores and locations.
Final Thoughts
I will say it again…I would love to help Wit’s End Stanwood and Marysville with their branding elements and personal branding photography needs! The Marysville location of Wit’s End was one of my son’s favorite store - he loved the bat specimen and skulls! So many charms and special features to explore and discover!
